Dry Run — Support

Something not working, or a question the app didn't answer? Start here — and if the answer isn't below, email me directly. I'm a solo developer, so you're writing to the person who built it.

Microphone & speech

The app isn't hearing me.

Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and confirm Dry Run is enabled. Also check Speech Recognition in the same menu — Dry Run needs both. If the mic is enabled and still nothing registers, make sure nothing else is holding the microphone (an active call, a recording app, or AirPods connected to another device).

It says there's no on-device speech model.

iOS downloads the on-device speech model for your language the first time it's needed, so the very first launch requires an internet connection. Connect to Wi-Fi and open the app once; after that it works fully offline. If it persists, your language may not have on-device support yet — email me and tell me which language you're using.

Why does iOS say speech data goes to Apple?

That wording is Apple's, and it appears for every app that uses the speech framework — it can't be edited. Dry Run requests on-device transcription, so your rehearsal audio is processed locally on your iPhone. The privacy policy covers exactly what does and doesn't leave the device.

Does it work on a plane?

Yes, after the first launch. Transcription, the live delivery meter, all five signals, and a full rehearsal against the built-in scripted opponent all work with no connection. Only the AI counterpart needs the network — and when it's unavailable the app falls back to the scripted opponent automatically.

Your data

Where are my recordings and my salary numbers stored?

On your device only. Audio is discarded when a round ends unless you save the session. Saved sessions live on your iPhone behind Face ID or Touch ID. Nothing is uploaded, and there's no account, so there's no copy on a server anywhere.

How do I delete everything?

Delete the app. Because all data is local and there is no account, removing the app removes every rehearsal, scorecard, and number it held. There's nothing to request from me because I don't have it.

Purchases & subscriptions

I bought Pro but it isn't unlocked.

Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases, making sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with. If it still doesn't unlock, email me your purchase date and I'll sort it out.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by me: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Dry Run → Cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the current period ends.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com. I can't issue them directly. If something in the app is broken, tell me anyway — I'd rather fix it.

What's the difference between Pro and the Offer Season Pass?

Pro is a subscription — monthly or annual — for people who negotiate more than once a year. The Offer Season Pass is a single payment that unlocks everything for 90 days with nothing to cancel, built for the one negotiation you're preparing for right now.

I bought the book. How do I get the Comeback Deck?

Readers of Negotiate This Not That get the Comeback Deck free. Use the code from the book's final page — email me if the code isn't working and include your Amazon order number.

Accessibility

Dry Run supports Dynamic Type, honours Reduce Motion, and never uses colour alone to communicate a result — every delivery signal pairs its colour with an icon and a word. If something is hard to use with VoiceOver or at a larger text size, that's a bug I want to hear about, not a limitation you should work around.

Something else

Feature requests, bug reports, and "this scenario doesn't match my situation" are all welcome. The scenarios grow based on what people tell me they're walking into.
